Deacs Wrap Up Weekend Meets at Wolfpack Last Chance Qualifier

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest track & field teams rounded out weekend competition at last chance regional qualifier meets on Sunday evening at the Wolfpack Last Chance Invitational.
The meet served as the third and final of three last-chance NCAA First Round East Regional qualifiers that the Demon Deacons took part in over the weekend. The top 48 declared athletes in each region per event qualify for the NCAA First Round Meets, which will take place May 24-26 in Jacksonville, Fla. The top 12 athletes from each region then advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, from June 6-9.
Senior Paul Loeser raced to victory in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.82, his second-best mark of the season. Loeser's personal-best time of 8:57.21 in the event was recorded earlier this season at the Raleigh Relays.
Michael McEnany and Kyle Eager competed in the 800 meters for the Deacs, finishing in times of 1:52.40 and 1:54.48, respectively. McEnany owns a season-best time of 1:51.95, while Eager's top time of the year stands at 1:51.51.
Garret Drogosch raced in the 5,000 meters at the event, finishing second overall in his second-best time of the season, 14:45.13. The junior's season-best time of 14:37.56 came back on March 30 at the Raleigh Relays.
For the women's side on Sunday evening, Caitlin Crawford and Casey Fowler raced in the 1500 meters, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. Crawford turned in a time of 4:29.43, just two seconds shy of her season-best mark, while Fowler raced to a career-best time of 4:30.35. Fowler's previous top mark of 4:30.95 came during the preliminary rounds of the ACC Championship.
