ATLANTA, Ga. - The Wake Forest track & field team completed its final meet this weekend at the very strong Georgia Tech Invitational before embarking on the NCAA First Round in two weeks in Greensboro, NC.

Senior Brent LaRue has had a good spring in the 400m hurdles and Saturday was no exception. He finished fifth in a time of 50.95, which was his second-best time of the year. In six 400m hurdle races this season, the Kernersville, NC., native has not finished any worse than fifth including a win at the ACC Championships last month.

LaRue also turned in a solid time of 14.04 in the prelims of the 110m hurdles on Friday night but did not advance to the finals. His best time this season of 50.60 in the 400m hurdles is sixth-best in the east region coming into the weekend.

In the women's 400m hurdles, senior Alex Gove finished 13th with a personal-best time of 59.13 while classmate Caroline Vaughn finished close behind in 15th at 59.30.

Dina Nosenko led six Demon Deacons who all posted season-best times in the women's 800m run Saturday. Dina finished 11th overall with a time of 2:07.68 while her sister Anna Nosenko finished 19th at 2:10.55 and Molly Binder took 21st at 2:10.63. Kim Vos clocked in at 2:11.55, Caitlin Crawford finished at 2:16.10 and Katelyn Wohlford came in at 2:20.35.

In the men's 800m run, freshman Michael McEnany ran a season-best 1:53.45 and just nipped sophomore Thomas Morrison who ran his second-best time this season of 1:53.46. Nate Guthals also turned in a season-best in the 800, running a 1:54.45.

Freshman Myesha Barr bettered her previous best in the 400m dash by almost three seconds on Saturday as she ran a 54.63 to finish second in her heat and 32nd overall. That time was over two seconds faster than any Demon Deacon this season.

Senior Jon Reid ran a season-best 46.31 in the men's 400m dash to finish 10th overall in that event. Fellow senior Tyler Dodds finished 25th at 47.61 while both Allen Lunkenheimer and Kevin Smith each turned in season-best time of 48.77 and 50.37, respectively. Former Deacon national champion Michael Bingham won the event in a time of 45.14.

On Friday night senior Paul Loeser ran a personal-best 9:20.40 to finish sixth in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Graduate student Erin Redden then turned in a season-best 10:45.49 in the women's steeplechase to finish fourth in that event.

Senior Carly Mauch recorded a season-best toss of 148-05 in the javelin to finish second. That toss will likely qualify her for the NCAA First Round and it was just under a foot off her school-record of 149-03. Sophomore Sarah Brobeck also had a nice performance in the shot put, finishing seventh after a personal-best toss of 40-09.75.

Sophomore Erin Brooks also recorded a personal-best in the long jump on Friday night as she finished 11th with a jump of 19-05.50.

The NCAA First Round will begin on Thursday, May 27, on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC. The top-48 athletes entered in each event in each region will compete for one of 12 spots in the NCAA Semifinals which will begin on Wednesday, June 9, in Eugene, Ore.
