INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Former Wake Forest track and field and cross country standout Nolan Swanson qualified last weekend for the 2004 IAAF World Cross Country Championships which will take place in Brussels, Belgium on March 20-21.

Swanson, a two-time All-American at Wake Forest, was competing for Team Asics when he placed sixth in the men's open division 12,000m race at Sunday's USA Cross Cross Championships at the Fall Creek and 16th Street Park in Indianapolis. The top six finishers in each division qualified to represent the United States in Belgium.

Swanson was a three-time All-ACC cross country selection during his time at Wake Forest and received All-America recognition in 1997, the year in which he won the ACC individual championship. Swanson was also named All-ACC four times in track and field and was a six-time ACC individual champion. In 1999, Swanson was named Most Outstanding Performer at the ACC Outdoor Championship Meet and earned All-America honors in the outdoor 10,000m.
