WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Boone, N.C., to race in the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State on Friday, Oct. 17. The first runners will toe the line at 3 p.m., at the State Farm Fields' Don Kennedy Trail. More than 25 teams are expected at Friday's event, including squads from three ACC rivals: Clemson, Duke and Virginia Tech.

The men's race will feature 12 male student-athletes from Wake Forest, which marks the most male Deacs competing in a single meet since the season-opening Wake Forest Relays on Sept. 4.

The following student-athletes are scheduled to run: Garret Drogosch, Will Ficklen, Tom Finneran, Jeremy Fisico, Sam Foster, Jake Graham, Howard Graves, Devin Huizenga, Austin Jones, Paul Loeser, Keaton Morgan and Ben Morrow.

The men's team is coming off a 31st-overall finish in the Gold Division at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 2. Freshman Garret Drogosch again led Wake Forest, which showcased six runners finishing within 33 seconds of Drogosch.

Traveling for the women's team are: Cate Berenato, Kristen Buchan, Ellen Huber, Cristina Richard, Katy Swain and Kim Vos.

The women's second unit enters the race on the heels of a fourth-place finish at the Hagan Stone Park Classic in Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 3. Sophomore Katy Swain paced the Deacons with a time of 19:49.5 and a 27th-overall finish at the meet.

Berenato, a junior from Blacksburg, Va., returns to the lineup after missing the last several meets. Her sole performance this season to-date was a solid sixth-place team finish at the Wake Forest Relays.

While one group travels to Boone, another Wake Forest women's squad will make its way to Terre Haute, Ind., to participate in the Indiana State Pre-Nationals event, beginning at 11 a.m. (ET) on Saturday.

Following this weekend's events, the next Wake Forest cross country action will be at the ACC Championships in Raleigh, N.C., on Oct. 31.
