Mike Terry joined Jen Hoover's staff as an assistant coach in May of 2012. He came to Wake Forest after spending two seasons as the associate head coach at Vermont. He arrived at Vermont after spending four years as an assistant women's basketball coach at Kent State University. During his tenure with the Golden Flashes, Kent State won 63 games, including posting a 20-win season last year and earning a trip to the Postseason WNIT Tournament. Before joining the Kent State coaching staff, Terry served as an assistant women's basketball coach at the University of New Mexico from 2003-06. While with the Lobos, New Mexico won consecutive Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament championships, made three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament and spent the 2005-06 season in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and finished the season ranked 21st. Prior to landing at New Mexico, Terry was the head varsity girls' basketball coach at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Fla., from 1998-2003. Terry led The Benjamin School to six consecutive district championships, six regional championships and six final four appearances. He teams won state titles in 1999, 2001 and 2003 and he finished with a career record of 159-32 at The Benjamin School. Terry, a graduate of Western Ontario University (London, Ontario) was recognized for his prep coaching excellence by being awarded the Palm Beach High School Coach of the Year, the Sun Sentinel Small Schools Coach of the Year and the F.A.C.A. Regional Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2003. |
