ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands - The No. 2 Connecticut women's basketball team ran out to an early lead and never looked back in a 95-34 victory over Wake Forest Thursday evening.

The Demon Deacons drop to 2-2 on the year while the Huskies remain perfect at 3-0.

Senior Asia Williams was aggressive all night with the ball and finished with 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting. She also dished-out four assists. Fellow senior Lakevia Boykin finished with eight points while Mykala Walker notched nine rebounds to go along with two points.

For UConn, Breanna Stewart led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. She led a total of five Huskies who finished in double-figures.

Connecticut shot 68.6 percent from the floor (35-of-51) and was 7-of-15 from beyond the three-point line. The Deacons struggled from the floor, shooting just 21.8 percent (12-of-55) and committing 24 turnovers against a strong UConn pressure.

The Huskies raced out of the gate, scoring the first 12 points of the game before Williams lifted the lid for the Deacs with a couple free throws at the 15:15 mark. UConn ran the lead to 20-2 before Williams dropped a nice pass to Walker for a lay-in and then knocked down a three-pointer to pull that Deacs within 13 at 20-7. That was as close as Wake would be the rest of the half as UConn pushed the lead out to 30-9 at the under-eight media timeout and would eventually lead 45-12 at halftime.

Williams led the Deacons at the half with seven points while Stewart led all scorers with 12 points. Walker grabbed eight of her nine rebounds in the opening half.

The Deacons scored the first five points of the second half but Stewart answered back with five points of her own to push the lead right back to 52-17 with 17:22 left in the game. UConn took a 43-point edge at 65-22 on a three-pointer by Brianna Banks with just over 12 minutes left in the game.

Connecticut continued to build its lead with solid shooting from the outside the rest of the way and took as much as a 90-33 lead and would go on for the 95-34 victory.

The Demon Deacons will take on No. 12 Purdue on Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET on day two of the Paradise Jam. That game, along with Saturday's game against Marist, will be streamed live online at www.paradisejam.com.
