WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Amber Campbell's driving layup with two seconds remaining lifted Wake Forest past Elon, 53-51, at LJVM Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

After the Demon Deacons (3-5) used a 14-0 run that overlapped the third and fourth quarters, the Phoenix (6-2) mounted a late rally and finally tied the game on Meme Garner's three-pointer with five seconds left. The Deacs called A timeout to advance the ball and Campbell executed the play to perfection, driving past her defender and finishing with a left-handed layup to give Wake Forest a 53-51 lead. With two seconds left, Elon turned the ball over, giving the Deacs the victory.

Campbell led the Deacs with 16 points. Although Campbell was the only Wake Forest player in double figures, Ona Udoh added a career-high 15 rebounds in her first career start.

The Demon Deacons made a late 6-0 run to end the first quarter with a 19-14 advantage.

However, for the second consecutive game, Wake Forest's offense struggled in the second quarter as they were held to just five points and went into halftime trailing, 27-24. The Demon Deacons held the Phoenix to just 28.6 percent shooting in the first half.

In the third quarter, the Deacs tied the game at 30-30 before Elon used a mid-quarter run to reestablish a six-point edge. From there, Wake Forest scored 11-straight to end the third quarter leading by five points.

The Demon Deacons continued their run into the fourth, building a game-high 46-36 lead before the Phoenix made a field goal. Elon chipped away throughout the quarter and tied the game on a late three. However, Campbell's layup allowed the Deacs to prevail by a two-point margin.

Up next, Wake Forest returns to the road this Monday, Dec. 4 with a 7 p.m. contest against Xavier.
