GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s basketball players Elisa Penna and Amber Campbell have earned All-ACC honors, the league office announced Tuesday (Feb. 27).

Penna was named to the All-ACC Second Team by the Blue Ribbon Panel as well as the league’s coaches while Campbell earned a spot on the All-ACC Defensive team, which was only voted on by the coaches.

A junior forward form Bergamo, Italy, Penna is Wake Forest’s first All-ACC member since Dearica Hamby in 2015. She finished the regular season averaging 15.8 points per game, good for ninth in the conference.

Penna led the team in points (363), field goals made (127), three-pointers (51) and three-point field goal percentage (.372). Against NC State on Feb. 18, she scored a career-high 34 points and tied a program record with nine three-pointers. The performance earned her ACC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 19.

Campbell, a senior guard from Charleston, South Carolina, is the program’s first All-ACC Defensive Team honoree since Tracey Alston in 2004.

At 2.2 steals per game, Campbell led the team and ranked sixth in the league. Her 225 career steals are good for fifth in team history.

Among active ACC players, Campbell ranks third in career steals and second in minutes played (4,064). She owns the program record for career starts (125) and minutes played.

Earlier this season, Campbell recorded back-to-back six steal games against Maryland Eastern Shore (Dec. 9) and Charlote (Dec. 18). She tallied a career-high seven steals in the team’s road win over Miami (Jan. 7).

Campbell delivered game-winning layups in the final seconds to propel the Deacs to wins over Richmond (Nov. 15) and Elon (Dec. 2) earlier this season. She also had a buzzer-beating basket to defeat Miami on Feb. 26, 2015.

Wake Forest is the No. 11 seed in this week’s ACC Tournament, which is returning to Greensboro after a one-year hiatus. The Demon Deacons will face No. 14 seed Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
