GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest junior Elisa Penna and sophomore Alex Sharp were recognized by the ACC Friday (March 2), as the pair were named to the All-ACC Academic Team.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Penna, a Second Team All-ACC honoree, collects her second consecutive All-ACC Academic Team distinction. An anthropology and psychology major, Penna led the Deacs and ranked ninth in the ACC with 15.8 points per game this past season while shooting a team-best 35.8 percent from beyond the arc. The native of Bergamo, Italy, scored in double figures 19 of the 25 games she appeared in this year.

The forward had the best game of her career against No. 25 NC State, scoring a career-high 34 points, including 9-of-13 shooting from beyond the arc, en route to ACC Player of the Week honors. The 34 points were tied for the eighth-most by an ACC player this year and were the most scored by a Deac since 2015. Penna also became the 26th member of Wake Forest's 1,000-point club when she scored 17 points in a road win over Clemson.

Sharp, a psychology major, also earns her second-straight All-ACC Academic Team honor. The sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, led the Deacs in rebounds (8.4) and steals (3.0) per game while ranking third on the team in scoring with 10.5 points per contest. Sharp ranks sixth in the league in rebounding and third in the ACC in offensive rebounds per game with 3.4.

The only Deac to start in all 31 contests this year, Sharp recorded a team-leading eight double-doubles on the year, the eighth-most by a single player in the ACC this season.

Wake Forest concluded its season Thursday evening, falling to Miami in the second round of the ACC Tournament.
