March 4, 2013
By Gary Petit, Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@WakeWBB) GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Lakevia Boykin and Chelsea Douglas have both earned All-ACC honors as announced by the conference office on Monday. Douglas was named to the second team by both the ACC Head Coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel while Boykin was named to the second team by the coaches. For Boykin, this is her second-straight season earning All-ACC honors as she was an honorable mention selection last season. She has started every game this year and is second in the conference in minutes per game at 35.8. She is averaging 14.1 points per game which is tied for eighth-best in the ACC and her .416 three-point percentage is the third-best percentage in the league. Boykin has made three three-pointers in a game 11 times this year and she set a career-high with 34 points in a road victory over Florida State on Jan. 10. This is the first All-ACC honor of Douglas' career. She too is averaging 14.1 points per game and has scored in double-figures a team-high 25 times. Douglas has six 20-plus point games this year and has made five three-pointers in a game three times. She has made 66 three-pointers this year which is tied for third-most in a single-season in school history. This marks just the fourth time in school history that two Demon Deacons have earned All-ACC honors in the same season. Jen Mitchell (Hoover) and Beth Davis each earned second team honors in 1990, Liz Strunk and Cotelia Bond-Young earned second and third team honors in 2005 and Secily Ray and Brittany Waters took home third team and honorable mention honors in 2010.
