Wake Forest women's basketball freshman Ariel Stephenson has been selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team, the conference announced Monday morning. The team was compiled through voting by the conference's head coaches.

Stephenson was also named to the conference's all-rookie squad as selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel last Tuesday. The Prince George, Va. native is Wake Forest's first ACC All-Freshman Team honoree since Sandra Garcia in 2010 and is the 11th player in program history overall the garner the distinction.

During her first season with the Demon Deacons, Stephenson is averaging 12.8 points per game and leads the Deacs with 22 double-figure-scoring games. Twice named the ACC Rookie of the Week, Stephenson earned her first league weekly honor after scoring 21 points in the season opener against LSU. She was again named the conference rookie of the week on Feb. 8 after leading the Deacs to victories over Pittsburgh and NC State. During the game against the Wolfpack, Stephenson recorded a new career high of 22 points to help the Deacs avenge a Jan. 3 loss to their in-state rivals in Raleigh, N.C.

Starting each of the last 10 games, Stephenson has scored in double figures in 11 of Wake Forest's last 13 contests. Thirteen of her 22 double-figure scoring games this season have come against ACC opponents.

Wake Forest's run at last week's ACC Tournament came to an end in a two-point quarterfinal loss to Georgia Tech that followed a first-round victory over Clemson. Stephenson had 19 points against the Tigers and poured in 21 against the Yellow Jackets. The Demon Deacons have now won a game in eight-straight ACC Tournaments, the longest active streak of any ACC program dating back to 2009.
