GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s basketball freshman Ariel Stephenson has garnered ACC All-Academic Team honors after succeeding both on the court and in the classroom this season.

The freshman from Prince George, Virginia, is second on the team with 12.8 points per game on the year while having played in each of the team’s 31 games. In the ACC Tournament, Stephenson averaged 20 points per game in scoring 19 in the first-round win over Clemson before netting 21 points – one point shy of tying her career high – in the heartbreaking loss to Georgia Tech in the second round.

The team marks the third All-ACC team Stephenson has been named to in the last week. On March 1, Stephenson was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team by the Blue Ribbon Panel before being selected by the league’s head coaches as an ACC All-Freshman performer on Monday. Earlier this season, Stephenson was named ACC Player of the Week twice while being selected to the All-Tournament Team in December at the “Fun in the Sun” tournament in Florida.

In the classroom, Stephenson owns an overall grade point average of 3.47 and was named to the Dean’s and Athletic Director’s lists in the fall after her first semester at Wake Forest.
