Wake Forest has received an invitation to the Women's National Invitation Tournament and will travel to Charlotte on Thursday evening for the opening round. The Deacons are making their fifth postseason appearance overall and its fourth WNIT appearance.

How To Catch The Game

  • The game will be streamed live online at http://www.charlotte49ers.com. It can also be heard locally on 98.1 WBRF. Phil Brame (play-by-play) and Roper Halverson (analyst) will have the call on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.

    Last Time Out

  • The Demon Deacons' ACC Tournament run came to an end in the semifinals with a 73-58 setback to No. 3-seed Maryland.
  • The Terrapins shot 52.8 percent for the game, which was the highest shooting percentage the Deacons have allowed an opponent all season.
  • Despite struggling a bit with her shot, sophomore Chelsea Douglas finished with a team-high 14 points
  • Junior Lakevia Boykin had a solid game, finishing with 11 points, seven rebounds and a team-best three assists.
  • That was Boykin's team-high 20th game in double-figures this season.
  • Fellow junior Mykala Walker snagged nine rebounds in the game to go along with four points and two steals.
  • The Deacons kept it close for most of the first half until Maryland finished the opening period on an 11-5 run to take a 6-point edge into the break.
  • The Terrapins opened as much as a 16-point lead in the second half before Wake closed to within seven with 4:30 to play. But UM was too much down the stretch and closed-out a 73-58 victory.

    Meet the 49ers

  • Charlotte has a record of 16-13 on the season and it finished 8-6 in the Atlantic-10, which was good enough for sixth in the conference.
  • The 49ers have lost five of their last six, including a 64-59 loss to St. Louis in the opening round of the A-10 Tournament on March 2.
  • Charlotte opened the year winning its first five games won nine of 11 during a stretch midway through the season.
  • Two players are scoring in double-figures for the 49ers led by Jennifer Hailey at 13.9 points per game. She is nearly averaging a double-double as she also is grabbing 9.5 rebounds per contest.
  • Epiphany Woodson is the second playing in double-figures, averaging 12.7 points per game. She has made a team-high 40 three-pointers.
  • Hailey earned second team All-A-10 while Woodson garnered third team honors and was named the Sixth Player of the Year.
  • Charlotte head coach Cara Consuegra is in her first season with the 49ers.

    Series History

  • This will be the 12th meeting all-time between the two North Carolina rivals.
  • Wake Forest leads the series 7-4 and holds a 2-1 edge in games played in Charlotte.
  • The two teams also met in the opening round of the WNIT on 2005. Wake Forest won that game 100-75 in Winston-Salem.
  • The Deacons are 17-14 all-time against teams from the Atlantic 10.
