WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host Georgetown on Sunday at 5 p.m. in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament at the Joel Coliseum. This is the first year any of the players on the WFU and GU rosters have seen postseason play past the conference tournaments. Georgetown (18-13) defeated Winthrop 73-45 in the opening round at Georgetown. Four Hoyas scored in double-figures, including 6-2 freshman forward Latia McGee who netted the game-high 21 points. The Hoyas finished 9th in the Big East with a 7-9 league record. They were upset by Steton Hall in the first round of the Big East Tournament. In scoring offense and defense Wake Forest and Georgetown match up extremely well. Wake Forest averages 65.7 points per game and the Hoyas average 64.2. WFU opponents on average score 59.9 points and Hoyas opponents average 61.2. Wake Forest is 19-11, entering the contest following its second round loss in the ACC Tournament to No. 1 seed Maryland.
