WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest rising-senior Sandra Garcia will try to help the Puerto Rican national team earn a berth into the 2012 Summer Olympics. The FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be played in Ankara, Turkey, on June 25 - July 1.

The tournament consists of 12 teams, of which five will qualify for the Summer Games in London. The 12 teams are broken into four pools of three teams. The top-2 teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals. The four quarterfinal winners will earn the first four berths and the four quarterfinal losers will then compete for the fifth and final spot.

Puerto Rico earned a spot in the qualifying tournament by finishing in the top-3 at the FIBA Americas Tournament last summer. The Puerto Ricans are in pool A with Turkey and Japan and will play Turkey on June 25 and Japan on June 27. All of the games will be played in Ankara, Turkey.

Garcia is a three-year letterwinner for the Deacs and has played in all but two games over her first three seasons. She averages 10 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and has had 11 double-doubles.
