CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's basketball head coach Jen Hoover and senior Amber Campbell represented the Demon Deacons at ACC Media Day on Thursday, Oct. 19, at The Westin Hotel in Uptown Charlotte.

Announced at the event, Wake Forest rising junior Elisa Penna was named Preseason All-ACC by the league’s coaches. She becomes the first player to be recognized with the preseason accolade since Dearica Hamby garnered preseason honors prior to the start of the 2014-15 season.

The preseason ACC polls were also announced at Thursday’s event, with Wake Forest picked to finish 11th in the league by the head coaches and 12th by the Blue Ribbon Panel. The 11th-place vote by the coaches matches the prediction from a year ago. Last year, the Deacs were picked 11th by both the coaches and media before exceeding expectations with a ninth-place finish.

Throughout the morning session in Charlotte, the Deacs circulated through nine stations speaking with reporters and representatives from ESPN, Raycom, the ACC Digital Network, Fox Sports, Play4Kay and various media members in attendance. Highlights of the day included a stop at the Social Station and the press conference aired live on ACC Network Extra.

In just 22 days, the Demon Deacons will take to the court for the first time in 2017-18 when they welcome Texas Southern on Friday, Nov. 10. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m. inside LJVM Coliseum and the game will be followed by the Wake Forest men's basketball team taking on Georgia Southern.
