WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's basketball head coach Jen Hoover has announced the Demon Deacons' three captains for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Senior forward Milan Quinn, junior guard Amber Campbell and sophomore guard Ariel Stephenson will lead the program as the Demon Deacons look to build on last season's appearance in the WNIT.

"Every member of our program believes strong team leadership is an important ingredient to our success," Hoover said of the program's three choices to lead the team in 2016-17. "These three student-athletes are exemplary representatives of our vision and depict what is special about our program and Wake Forest University. I look forward to watching them lead as I believe their unique personalities will blend perfectly to lead us to a special season."

Quinn is a four-year member of the program and has quickly emerged into one of the ACC's top post players after a stellar 2015-16 campaign. Playing in all 33 games a season ago with 25 starts, Quinn set multiple career highs with 10.7 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per contest and a shooting percentage of 53.3 percent from the floor. Pulling down 300 rebounds throughout the season, Quinn's 9.1 boards per game put her in second in the conference behind Duke's Azura Stevens. Quinn enters the 2016-17 season as the league's leading returning rebounder and looks to improve upon her 11 double-doubles over the course of 2015-16, which was the third-highest total throughout the year in the ACC.

Campbell has started all 66 games Wake Forest has played since joining the program prior to the 2014-15 season. Leading the team last season with 13.0 points per game while playing a team-best 34.0 minutes per contest, Campbell has totaled 782 points as a Demon Deacon and is looking to become the 24th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. One of Wake Forest's most dynamic players both inside and out, Campbell shot 42.1 percent from the floor a season ago and 30.9 percent from long range. She scored a career-high 27 points on Feb. 14 in Wake Forest's win over Duke -- the first for the program since 1992 -- and was named USBWA National Player of the Week for the performance.

Though with just one season under her belt, Stephenson's impact on the Demon Deacons was evident from the start. In her first collegiate game, Stephenson notched 21 points in the victory over LSU on Nov. 13, 2015. That total stands as her second-highest point total to date. She led the Demon Deacons with 24 double-figure games, the fourth-most for an ACC freshman, while appearing in all 33 contests throughout the season. Knocking down 64 three-pointers throughout the campaign, Stephenson set the program record for most threes by a freshman in a single season and finished second on the team with 12.7 points per game.

Wake Forest is set to open the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11, when the Demon Deacons welcome Navy to LJVM Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. and will be followed by a men's basketball game at 7:30 p.m. against Radford. The game marks a run to open the season in which four of the Deacs' first five games are at home.
