WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 6 Wake Forest field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season 5-0 to No. 1 North Carolina Friday afternoon at Kentner Stadium.

The Demon Deacons are now 2-1 on the year, while the Tar Heels are 3-0.

North Carolina scored just 12 seconds into the game to set the tone and tacked on their second goal in just the seventh minute of play.

Wake Forest took just three shots on the afternoon, two from sophomore Lizzie Rae and one from junior Lauren Greenwald.

Kelsey Kolojejchick got Carolina on the board first after stealing the ball and finishing past WFU keeper Kaitlyn Ruhf. Sinead Loughran answered at the 6:59 mark on a helper from Kolojejchick.

Kolojejchick also assisted on the first goal for UNC in the second half when Elizabeth Stephens scored in the 40th minute. Elizabeth Drazdowski and Jaclyn Radvany finished the scoring for Carolina.

Wake Forest did have three penalty but were unable to connect on any opportunity.

The Deacons will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Lafayette at Kentner Stadium.
