Final Stats | Final Stats (PDF) Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@WakeHockey) WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 11 Wake Forest beat Missouri State, 2-0, at Kentner Stadium on Sunday to improve to 3-1 on the season. Senior Jess Newak scored both goals for the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest (3-1) picked up its third consecutive win with a 2-0 victory over Missouri State (1-4). Newak was responsible for both Wake Forest goals on Sunday, scoring one in each half of the game. Her first half goal came on a penalty corner. Emily Conroe put the ball in play and Shannon Eby stopped the ball for Newak to both earn assists on the play. The Demon Deacons added an insurance goal in the second half, with Sarah Thornhill finding Newak for her second goal of the game. Newak now has a team-leading seven points on three goals and one assist this season. The Demon Deacons outshot Missouri State 22-1 in the match.
Wake Forest begins ACC play on Friday Sept. 11 with a trip to Durham, N.C. to face No. 5 Duke. The Blue Devils are 2-1 on the season ahead of a 3 p.m. game on Sunday against Maryland.
