WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 2 Wake Forest field hockey team scored seven goals in nine minutes during the second half to dominate Appalachian State, 9-0, Friday evening from Kentner Stadium.

Michelle Kasold, Tracey Scott and Kristi Harshman each scored a pair of goals, while Aileen Davis, Chelsea Cipriani and Haley Scott each added one. The two goals for Kasold gives her 13 on the season, which ties her for the lead with fellow sophomore Christine Suggs. Lauren Crandall picked up a pair of assists in the win to up her season total to six.

The Deacs had some trouble getting on the board in the beginning of the game, with Harshman scoring the Deacs only goal during the first half. It wasn't until 15 minutes into the second that Wake Forest started putting the ball in. It started with Kasold, who put away back-to-back goals in the 48th and 54th minute, respectively. After Kasold's second goals, the Deacs went on an impressive run that totaled seven scores, including three unassisted field goals by Davis, Tracey Scott and Harshman.

Wake Forest dominated the entire first part of the game and didn't allow the ball into their half of the field for 65 minutes of the game. Appalachian State did manage one shot on the night, while Wake Forest closed out the evening with 37 shots and 13 penalty corners.

The Demon Deacons will hit the road to face Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 22. Game time in Charlottesville is set for 12 p.m.
