WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team picked up a 2-0 victory over Davidson on Tuesday at Kentner Stadium. Freshman Megan Anderson and senior Krysta Wangerin scored for the Demon Deacons.

With the shutout Wake Forest improved to 12-4 on the season while Davidson moved to 8-9. The Demon Deacons held a 21-2 advantage in shots and took 11 corners to Davdison's one penalty corner.

Anderson scored her second goal of the season in the 29th minute to give the Demon Deacons a 1-0 lead. Kali Vicars passed the ball in to Anderson from the top of the circle and the freshman put it in the back of the cage.

In the second half Wangerin had good position in front of the cage on a shot by Jess Newak. Wangerin deflected the ball in for her seventh score of the season. The goal came with less than four minutes to play and iced the victory for the Demon Deacons.

Senior goalkeeper Valerie Dahmen needed to make just one save for her second shutout of the season.

The Demon Deacons have now won 21-straight meetings with Davidson going back to the 1993 season.

Wake Forest concludes its regular season slate on Sunday against No. 15 Boston University at 1 p.m. The Demon Deacons are 2-0 all-time against the Terriers with wins in 1999 and 2003.
