WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The fifth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team finished the regular season with a 4-2 win over No. 15 Boston University. Seniors Krysta Wangerin and Jess Newak each scored in their final home game.

Wake Forest finished the regular season with a 13-4 overall record. Boston University moved to 12-6 on the season.

Wangerin opened scoring in the ninth minute to give the Demon Deacons a 1-0 lead. The senior took a shot that was saved but was there to put the rebound in the back of the cage. Boston University tied the game 20 minutes later. Hester van der Laan and Sara Martineau passed back-and-forth in to the circle with van der Laan sending the shot past Valerie Dahmen for the score. The game was tied 1-1 at the half.

The Demon Deacons opened the second half with two goals off penalty corners. Newak scored in the 44th minute, assisted by Shannon Eby and Emily Conroe and Jule Grashoff tallied a goal in the 53rd minute, assisted by Jessy Silfer and Megan Anderson.

The Terriers pulled within one of Wake Forest's lead, 3-2 ,on a goal by Amanda Cassara with 63:39 on the clock. Wake Forest put the game away two minutes later on an unassisted goal by Madi Julius.

Wake Forest will head to Charlottesville, Va. for the ACC Tournament beginning on Thursday. The Demon Deacons are the No. 2 seed and will face Boston College in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Wake Forest beat the Eagles, 3-2, at Kentner Stadium during the regular season.
