Averill to Host Eighth Annual Weed Whackers Youth Program

By Currie McFayden, Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@SIDeacons) WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jennifer Averill and the Wake Forest assistant field hockey coaches will be hosting the eighth annual Weed Whacker program, a two-month initiative to introduce youth players to the game of field hockey. The program is open to boys and girls from ages 4 through 11 and will begin on February 13. Meetings will be held each Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Kentner Stadium through April 3. In the event a session is cancelled due to inclement weather or other circumstances, April 10 will serve as a make-up date. There is no charge to participate in the program, but space is limited to 120 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
