WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team will partner with the Demon Deacon men's soccer squad to host its third annual DODGE Melanoma Dodgeball tournament to raise money for melanoma research. The event will be held Sunday, April 22 from 1-3 p.m. at Kentner Stadium and will be open to the entire Wake Forest community.

The disease hit close to home for the field hockey team, claiming the life of Maria Whitehead - a standout on the Deacs' 2002 National Championship team - on November 1, 2006 at the young age of 25.

All proceeds will benefit the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and the entire campus community is encouraged to join in the fight against this prevalent and fatal disease.

Individuals can register for $10 and will be placed on teams with current Wake Forest student-athletes, or entire teams of six-to-eight participants can enter the event for $50. Donations will also be accepted on the day of the event or can be mailed to Faith Adams, who can be contacted at adamfm8@wfu.edu.
