Christine Suggs Named ACC Player Of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. - Freshman Christine Suggs was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after closing the weekend with three goals and one assist, leading the No. 1 Wake Forest field hockey team to a pair of victories this weekend.
Suggs scored a goal and assisted on another in Wake Forest's 4-0 win over Kent State on Friday. The Durham, N.C. native, was even better on Sunday, as she scored both goals in the Deacons' 2-0 win over sixth-ranked Michigan State.
For the week, Suggs scored three goals and added an assist for a total of seven points. She had a hand in four of Wake Forest's six goals. All three of Suggs' goals came from the field, while her assist came from a corner.
On the season, Suggs leads the Demon Deacons in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Suggs is tied for seventh in the ACC in scoring at 1.83 points per game.
Wake Forest, ranked No. 1 in the latest STX/NFHCA Poll, returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24, against second-ranked Maryland in College Park, Md. The last time the two squads met was in the national semifinals of the 2004 NCAA Championship, with the Deacons winning 3-0 en route to their third consecutive national title.
