Greensboro, N.C. - Wake Forest's Maeke Boreel and Maryland's Jackie Ciconte were named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week announced the ACC on Monday. Both led their respective teams to overtime wins this past week against ACC opponents.

Boreel, a junior forward from Almen, Holland, scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Deacons past North Carolina. It was her second game-winner in as many games. She also tallied one goal in the 4-3 overtime win against the Deacons fourth No.1-ranked opponent in three weeks. With the win, Wake Forest has knocked off three No. 1 ranked teams in the past three weeks, becoming the first team in school history to beat as many or play as many.

Deacons have claimed the award four times already this season, more than twice as often as any other ACC opponent.

Boreel is the Deacon co-leader in assists this season, with 12 already. She currently ranks fourth in the Deacon career assists record, with 38 to her credit so far.

Boreel and the Deacons travel to Richmond, Va. on Saturday for a 6 p.m. date with Virginia Commonwealth.
