Video Invitation for Deacon Club Day

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The sixth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team will host third-ranked Virginia on Saturday, October 24 at 1 p.m. The match will serve as the first annual Field Hockey Deacon Club Day, which includes special entertainment and a post-game tailgate for Deacon Club members.

Wake Forest is 10-4 and 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacons played Virginia to overtime earlier this season, falling 3-2 in Charlottesville. Saturday's match will be the official conference contest between the two teams.

Virginia is 14-2 overall with a 1-2 conference record. Last Saturday the Cavaliers dropped a 2-1 overtime contest at home to North Carolina, marking the team's second loss of the season.

As the regular season winds down, the ACC is completely gridlocked. Maryland and North Carolina are tied for first place with perfect 4-0 records. Wake Forest and Virginia are tied for third with 1-2 marks, Boston College currently sits in fifth (1-3) and Duke is in sixth place with no conference wins to date (0-4). The top two teams will receive first round byes for the 2009 ACC Tournament, held in Charlottesville November 5-8.

Wake Forest will conclude regular season play on Saturday, October 31 at 1 p.m. when they host Boston College.
