Oct. 23, 2006
GREENSBORO, N.C. - - Wake Forest junior Chelsea Cipriani was tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the ACC today. She shares the honor with Maryland's Susie Rowe and the award is a first for both players this season.
Cipriani is the third Demon Deacon to receive the league's weekly award, while Rowe is the second Maryland player to be recognized.
Cipriani, a native of Thoroughfare, N.J., came off the bench for the Demon Deacons to score the overtime game-winner against 10th-ranked Virginia on Sunday. She also added a goal against Appalachian State, as the Demon Deacons cruised to a 9-0 shutout victory. The junior forward has totaled 11 goals this season, including two game-winners. Her first golden goal came in the overtime victory against North Carolina earlier in the season.
Rowe, a defender, scored goals in each of Maryland's wins last week. The sophomore from London, England, tallied the final goal in the win over 19th-ranked American last Wednesday.
Wake Forest will close the regular season this weekend against Boston College on Sunday, October 29. Game time in Chestnut Hill, Mass. is set for 1 p.m.
