Oct. 30, 2006
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Michelle Kasold has been named the ACC Player of the Week after helping the Wake Forest Demon Deacons clinch a share of the regular-season title in Sunday's 6-1 victory at sixth-ranked Boston College. The recognition is the first for the sophomore this season.
The Chapel Hill, N.C., native paced the Deacs with two goals and one assist for five points against Boston College last week. She earned the assist on the Deacs' first goal of the game and later netted a pair of goals of her own, giving Wake Forest a solid 6-1 victory.
Kasold has scored or added an assist in each of the last four games and eight of the last nine. The midfielder currently leads the team with 44 points off 16 goals and 12 assists.
Wake Forest received the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in this week's ACC Field Hockey Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Demon Deacons will hit the field on Friday, November 3, facing either No. 3 seed Duke or No. 6 seed North Carolina.
