Wake Forest Set For ACC Tournament
The Demon Deacons will go up against Wake Forest Hall of Famer Kelly Doton and the Boston College Eagles in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in Charlottesville, Va.
The game airs live on RSN, which includes Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Carolinas. The games will also be available on ESPN3.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest finished the regular season with three-straight wins over No. 3 North Carolina, Davidson and No. 15 Boston University.
The win over North Carolina was the first for the Deacs since 2008.
Wake Forest went 7-4 against ranked opponents this season.
Scouting the Opponent
Boston College earned the No. 7 seed in the ACC Tournament with a 1-5 league record. The Eagles' lone conference win came in the final ACC game of the season. BC beat UVA 5-4 in overtime.
Wake Forest is 16-3 all-time against Boston College. The Deacs have won the last four games in the series including a 3-2 win at home this season.
Krysta Wangerin, Jess Newak and Jule Grashoff scored in the win over BC.
The Eagles are led by head coach Kelly Doton. Doton played field hockey for Wake Forest from 2000-03 and helped the Demon Deacons to a pair of national championships.
Wake Forest enters the ACC tournament ranked No. 6 in the NFHCA Poll.
The Demon Deacons entered the year ranked No. 11 and dropped to No. 12 after the first week. Since Sept. 15 the Deacs have been ranked in the top eight, moving as high as No. 5.
All seven ACC field hockey programs are ranked in the Top 12 spots of the NFHCA Poll. The entire ACC has been ranked in 34 consecutive polls, a streak dating to October of 2012.
Wake Forest is 23-26 all-time in the ACC Tournament and has won four ACC Championships including last year. The Deacs also won in 2002, 2003 and 2006.
The Demon Deacons have faced Boston College four times in the ACC Tournament, coming away with a win all four times.
