WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 2 Wake Forest field hockey team placed six student-athletes on the Dartfish/NFHCA All-Region Team, as announced by the committee Monday. Maeke Boreel, Lauren Crandall, Ariel Meyers and Haley Scott were named to the first team and Christine Suggs and Kelly Wood were named to the second team.

Boreel, a native of Alaman, Holland, has played and started in every game this season and has recorded six goals and seven assists. Meyers, a core member of the Demon Deacon defense that has allowed just 0.87 goals per game, has also scored three goals in 2005. Both Boreel and Meyers were selections to the All-ACC team.

Crandall leads the Deacs with 13 assists and has also added nine goals, including the overtime game winner against North Carolina in the ACC Tournament. She also leads the team with 110 shots and was selected to the All-ACC team. Scott, a native of Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., has started every game this season and is second on the team with 10 goals. Scott was also a selection to the All-ACC team.

Wood earns second-team honors for the first time in her career as another key member of the Demon Deacon defense. Scoring one goal in the home opener against Iowa, Wood also has two assists in 2005. Suggs, the ACC Freshman of the Year, leads the team with 16 goals, 13 assists and five game winning goals.

The three-time defending national champions will travel to the NCAA Championships this weekend in Louisville, Ky. The Demon Deacons will face Duke in semifinal action on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
