HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wake Forest women’s golf team had a strong second round at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, climbing from 12th place to fifth place during Saturday’s play at the Long Cove Club. The Demon Deacons shot 10-over during the second round, the second-lowest round of the day, to finish the day at 22-over.

No. 2 Alabama leads the tournament at 9-over, followed by Northwestern (15-over), Arkansas (18-over), Furman (21-over) and the Demon Deacons.

“We played much better today, shooting the second-best score of the day,” said head coach Dianne Dailey. “I was proud of the students for the way they hung in there in tough winds and the cold. We played with a lot of patience today and we are looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow. It was a great team effort today.”

Emilia Migliaccio again led Wake Forest, shooting even par to end the day at 1-under, T-3rd and two shots off the individual lead. Antonia Eberhard is T-20th place at 5-over after a 2-over second round 73. Siyun Liu had a 74 and Mai Dechathipat had a 76 to round out the scoring four the Deacs. Jennifer Kupcho is T-38th at 9-over after a second round 78.
