HANAHAN, S.C. - The Wake Forest women’s golf team carded a 300 in the second round of the Cougar Classic. The Demon Deacons are tied for sixth with one round to play at Yeamans Hall.

“We did not play as well as we wanted. The course was set up a little tougher today and we struggled with putting," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "Overall, our ball striking is good and we just need to get the putts to fall. Sierra fought back today on the back and made two birdies coming in. Erica was steady today as well, even though she is fighting a severe cold and cough. We hope to put into practice what we have learned the past three days and finish strong.”

Sierra Sims followed her opening round 69 with a 1-over 73 on Monday. She is 2-under with 18 holes to play and tied for sixth place. Sims birdied 18 for the second straight day, her second birdie of the day. She is six strokes behind the individual leaders.

Arkansas leads the Cougar Classic at 11-under with Virginia in second at 1-under. Wake Forest is tied for sixth with Furman.

Erica Herr also carded a 1-over 73 on Monday. She is at even par after 36 holes and tied for 12th. Antonia Eberhard is 9-over for the tournament after a second-round 78. Jennifer Kupcho is one stroke behind Eberhard after rounds of 78-76. Senior Mariana Sims rounded out Monday’s scores with an 81. The Demon Deacons will tee off at 9 a.m. for Tuesday’s final round. Wake Forest is paired with Clemons, Furman and UCF.
