Women's Golf Leads Lady Paladin Invite After Two Rounds

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Wake Forest women’s golf team took over the lead of the Lady Paladin Invitational after carding an even-par 288 during Monday’s second round.

After two rounds the Demon Deacons are 4-over with a one stroke lead over Missouri. Clemson is 8-over par in third place with Furman right behind in fourth place at 9-over.

“The team played well today,” said head coach Dianne Dailey. “We have had good, balanced scoring and a total team effort the last two days. We just need to keep up what we are doing tomorrow and see what happens.”

Junior Sierra Sims fired a 3-under 69 on Monday to lead Wake Forest. She is even par for the tournament after an opening round 75. Sims is tied with teammate Jennifer Kupcho in sixth place.

Kupcho remains in the top 10 after turning in a 1-over 73 on Monday. Kupcho opened the tournament with a 1-under 71 on Sunday.

Freshman Antonia Eberhard birdied the final hole of the day to drop to 1-under for the second round. She is 2-over for the tournament and is in 14th place with 18 holes to play.

Sophomore Erica Herr is 5-over after rounds of 71 and 78 at the Lady Paladin Invite. Herr is tied for 27th individually. Senior Mariana Sims rounds out the Wake Forest scores at 10-over (79-75-154).

Sophomore Vinh-Hop Ngo is playing as an individual and has turned in back-to-back rounds of 77. She is 10-over heading in to the final round.

Wake Forest is in search of its fourth win at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Demon Deacons previously won the event in 1994, 1996 and 1999. Last year Wake Forest finished second behind Furman.

The Demon Deacons are paired with Missouri and Clemson for Tuesday’s final round. The team’s will tee off beginning at 9 a.m.
