Deacons Ninth Midway Through 2nd Round of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Hurricane Sandy is approaching the east coast and the high winds and rain out ahead it have forced the postponement of the second round of the Landfall Tradition at Landfall Country Club in Wilmington, N.C.

The Wake Forest women's golf team is 13-over midway through the second round and 25-over for the tournament. That has the Deacs in ninth place in the 17-team field.

The second round began with a shotgun start Saturday morning in order to get as many holes in as possible. At 12:09 p.m., play was halted due to high winds and driving rain. Play is set to resume at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning with a shotgun start.

Individually for the Deacs, junior Olafia Kristinsdottir has made two birdies and two bogeys through eight holes and is even for the day. She is 2-over for the tournament and in 11th place.

Sophomore Marissa Dodd also made two early birdies and stands at 2-over for the round. Freshman Mariana Sims is 4-over for day while Emily Wright is 7-over and Allison Emrey is 9-over.

Senior Greta Lange, who is playing as an individual, has finished 10 holes and is 5-over par.

Duke is just 2-over on its round today and has opened a four-shot lead on Oklahoma State. Notre Dame's Lindsey Weaver is 3-under for the tournament and has a one-shot lead midway through the event.

The resumption of the second round is set for 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. will have live scoring of the final day's action.
