Oct. 30, 2011 WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team closed out the Landfall Tradition with its lowest round of the weekend, a 308, and finished in a tie for 10th in the 18-team field. The Deacons two most experienced players, senior Cheyenne Woods and sophomore Olafia Kristinsdottir, matched each other for the 54-hole event, which was played at the Landfall Country Club, and the duo finished tied for 16th at 14-over par. Wake Forest came into the final round in 12th place but a solid final round of 308 allowed the Deacs to jump a couple of teams to end in a tie for 10th with Notre Dame and Florida State. Purdue carded one of just two sub-300 rounds on the weekend and ran away with the team title on Sunday. The Boilermakers shot a 297 on Sunday and finished 14-shots ahead of Auburn and 15 shots better than Ohio State. Kristinsdottir made a total of 13 pars and one birdie in her final round 75. That was her lowest round of the weekend and the lowest round of the day by any of the five Demon Deacons. Woods shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday and then followed that with a 77 on Sunday. Much like the first round, Woods got off to a stumbling-start as she was 6-over par through five holes. But the Phoenix, Ariz., native would regroup and play the final 13 holes in 1-under par. Freshman Emily Wright finished her fall with a solid round, posting a 5-over 77. She made three birdies in the round, which was her highest total of the weekend. She finished tied for 45th at 21-over par. Fellow freshman Marissa Dodd also finished tied for 45th with Wright as she carded a 79 on Sunday. Junior Greta Lange completed a tough weekend with a final round 81. In the individual race, Paula Reto of Purdue fired a final round 70 and claimed medalist honors at 2-over par. Reto was the 18-hole leader but Auburn's Victoria Trapani jumped her for the 36-hole lead. Tranpani would finish in a tie for in a tie for second after a final round 76. The Demon Deacons have concluded the fall portion of their schedule and will have more than three months off before starting the spring schedule on Feb. 13 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
