FAR HILLS, N.J. – The United States Golf Association announced Friday (Nov. 17) that Wake Forest junior Jennifer Kupcho was one of 12 players invited to participate in a practice session next month in preparation for the 2018 Curtis Cup. The practice session will be held Dec. 17-18 at Shoal Creek Golf Club in Birmingham, Ala., site of the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open.

The Curtis Cup is a biannual team competition between the top women’s amateur players from the United States and the top women’s amateur players from Great Britain & Ireland. The 2018 event will be contested June 8-10, 2018, at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y.

Invitation to the Curtis Cup practice session does not guarantee selection to the USA Team that will compete in June. Players not invited will also be considered for inclusion on the team.

Wake Forest has had four players compete in previous Curtis Cups. Karen Noble (1990), Brenda Corrie (1996 and 1998) and Sierra Brooks (2016) have represented the United States, while Helen Wadsworth (1990) represented Great Britain & Ireland.

Kupcho was a first-team All-American in 2017 and the ACC and NCAA runner-up. Last season, she set the school single-season scoring record of 70.61 and has an average of 69.67 through the first four events of 2017-18.
