WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 18-ranked Wake Forest fell to Princeton, 2-0, Monday afternoon at Spry Stadium. The loss was the first of the season for the Demon Deacons (5-1-0).

Abby Givens put the Tigers (4-0-0) on the board in the 13th minute with an assist from Natalie Larkin off a five-yard cross. Mimi Asom doubled the Tigers' lead in the 27th minute to give Princeton a 2-0 advantage entering halftime.

Wake Forest's best chance came in the 70th minute when Peyton Perea fired at the goal but Princeton's Natalie Grossi was there for the stop. The Deacs attempted to strike again when Sofia Rossi took a shot in the 86th minute but once again, Grossi managed the save.

The Tigers held a slight 10-9 advantage in shots, but a 6-2 margin in shots on goal. Lindsay Preston kept the Tigers off the board in the second half with two saves, one of which was a diving stop on a long shot from Princeton's Courtney O'Brien in the 80th minute. Preston finished with four saves, just one save shy of her season-high.

Up next, Wake Forest hits the road to face Michigan State on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and Michigan on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
