EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Goals from Bayley Feist and Estelle Laurier gave No. 17 Wake Forest a 4-1 road win over Michigan State at the DeMartin Soccer Complex Thursday night.

The match was the first-ever between the two programs.

The Demon Deacons (6-1-0) dominated the attack, leading the Spartans (4-3-0) in shots, 20-7, and shots on goal, 13-5.

Feist opened the scoring when she snuck the ball past the MSU keeper to put the Demon Deacons on the board in the 31st minute. Sofia Rossi tallied her first career assist on the goal.

After the break, Michigan State evened the score at 1-all after Danielle Stephan found the net in the 58th minute. However, the Wake Forest offense caught fire just five minutes later when Laurier recorded her first goal of the season off a rebound and assist from Peyton Perea in the 63rd minute. Laurier found the net again in the 69th minute from Perea to give the Deacs a 3-1 lead. Feist finalized the score in the 85th minute with a shot from ten yards out, assisted by Reci Smith.

Both Feist and Laurier recorded their first career multi-goal games while Perea tallied her first career multi-assist game.

The Demon Deacons held the Spartans without a shot until the 25th minute, outshooting them 8-0 during that time. The 20 shots recorded by Wake Forest were the most since the team finished with 21 in the 3-2 double-overtime victory against Syracuse on Oct. 20, 2016. Feist led the Deacs with five shots, four of which were on goal.

Lindsay Preston picked up her sixth win of the season in goal after playing all 90 minutes and recording four saves.

Up next, Wake Forest will conclude its two-game road trip in Ann Arbor when the Deacs take on Michigan Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
