The Deacons (7-2-1, 1-1-0 ACC) hung with the top-ranked Seminoles (8-0-0, 2-0-0 ACC) and had a number of chances to even the game but were unable to push a goal across. Brockway's game-winner came in 23rd minute when she got her knee on a cross by Jessica Price and pushed it over Aubrey Bledsoe. Kesley Wys made four saves to earn the shutout for Florida State, including key stops on Wake Forest's Jackie Logue and Jenai Davidson. Bledsoe took the loss for the Demon Deacons, making three saves. Alisha Woodson led the Demon Deacons with three shots, tying her season high. Wake Forest earned seven corner kicks in the match and created some chances off of them but could not convert. Florida State had the first good scoring chances of the game in the eighth minute. Jessica Price put a long throw into the box and shots from close range by Tiffany McCarty and Ines Jaurena were blocked in quick succession. Tiana Brockway gave the Seminoles a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. The Noles broke down the left on a counterattack and Price played a ball into the middle that Brockaway kneed over the top of Bledsoe and into the net. Jackie Logue had a golden opportunity to equalize minutes later when a through ball found her behind the defense, but her shot from 15 yards was pushed just wide by Wys. McCarty came close to doubling the Florida State lead in the 52nd minute when her shot beat Bledsoe but was cleared off the line by Annick McBryar, keeping the Demon Deacons within a goal. Jenai Davidson came free on a breakaway in the 72nd minute after Katie Stengel found her with a through ball, but her shot was pushed wide by Wys. The Demon Deacons will have two home ACC matches this week, hosting undefeated No. 5 Boston College on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Maryland on Sunday at 1 p.m.
