RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's soccer team conceded a pair of second-half goals, falling to No. 23 NC State by a 2-1 score at Dail Soccer Stadium on Sunday night.

Wake Forest (8-3, 0-3 ACC) got on the board first in the 10th minute. After Claudia Day was taken down in the box, Sarah Teegarden converted the penalty kick for her second goal of the season.

But the Wolfpack (8-3, 2-1 ACC) answered back by taking nine straight shots, eventually finding the back of the net twice in a 40-second span in the second half.

After a Demon Deacon turnover, Paige Griffiths dribbled to 25 yards out and unleashed an upper-90 shot for the equalizer at the 64:21 mark.

NC State was handed a penalty kick at the 65:01 mark, and Tziarra King converted for the game-winner.

The Deacs searched for the equalizer, but failed to score in the run of play. In the 70th minute, Bayley Feist headed a Maddie Huster free kick on target, but right at the NCSU keeper. Teegarden had another shot attempt blocked by a defender minutes later.

Lindsay Preston started in goal and made three saves, allowing one goal. Substitute Nonie Frishette (1-1) took the loss after conceding the penalty kick. Sydney Wootten made one save in the Wolfpack's winning effort.

The Deacs are back in action on Oct. 2, traveling to Miami for a 2 p.m. game.
