No. 12 Wake Tames Wolfpack 4-2

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 12 Demon Deacons landed their third consecutive conference win on Thursday afternoon when they defeated NC State 4-2 at the Method Road Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
The Deacons are now 5-2-2 in conference play and 10-5-3 for the season while the Wolfpack is 6-9-3 in 2007 and 0-8-1 in the ACC.
WFU's Maggie Horne scored the first goal in the fifth minute, staging a one-woman charge that began outside the penalty area and ended at the 10-yard mark with a shot that slipped past three Wolfpack defenders. The goal was Horne's second for the season.
Camelyn Dillon set up Allie Sadow's goal in the 22nd minute to put the Deacs up 2-0. Dylan completed the cross from 30 yards out and Sadow made the run forward, taking the shot just inside the penalty area.
The Wolfpack got on the board before the end of the first half when freshman Nadia Aboulhosn scored in the 29th minute after NC State touches from Chantelle Dugas and Lindsay Vera.
Kara Baldy subbed in for the Pack in the second half and knotted the contest at 2-2 in the 59th minute, grabbing a pass from Lindsay Vera.
Just 20 seconds later, Wake senior Laura Colven broke through a pack of NC State defenders to put the Deacs up 3-2, marking the Texas native's first career goal. Allie Sadow had a touch before Colven nailed the game-winner.
Sarah Winslow added to the final Deacon tally, teaming up with Amy Smerdzinski to set the final mark at 4-2. Smerdzinski started the run from midfield and flicked the ball to Winslow who caught NC State goalkeeper Rachel Barnette out of the net with a center shot from 15 yards out. The goal was Winslow's third of the season.
The Demon Deacons will play their final game of the regular season this Sunday, taking on the Miami Hurricanes in Winston-Salem at 1 p.m.
