WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s soccer freshman Hannah Betfort and incoming freshman Giovanna DeMarco have received an invitation to participate in the U.S. Soccer U-18 and U-19 Women’s National Team Training camp in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

The camp will take place Feb. 10-17 and is a concurrent training camp for both the U-19 and U-18 levels. DeMarco is one of 24 players called up to the U-19 camp, and only one of five who is still playing with a youth club, while Betfort is one of 24 invited to the U-18 camp.

All 48 players at the team camp are age-eligible for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup team, as the age cut-off is Jan. 1, 1998.

Betfort made an immediate impact as a forward for the Demon Deacons in the 2017 season. She started in 17 of 20 games played and amassed over 1,000 minutes of playing time. She finished second on the team with five goals, three of which were game winning, while also recording an assist. February’s camp will be Betfort’s first U.S. National Team Camp.

DeMarco will join the Demon Deacons for the 2018 season. She is rated the No. 117 prospect in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer, including No. 5 in the New Jersey region and the No. 46 midfielder. She earned five letters at the William Penn Charter School, where she will graduate in the spring as the all-time point leader. This will be the first team camp for DeMarco.
