WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's soccer coach Tony da Luz today announced that seven highly touted players will join the Demon Deacons in the fall.
Maddie Brock, Kendall Fischlein, Taylor Kerxton, Kendal Robino, Jenna Romano, Sarah Teegarden and Caroline Wootten will enroll at Wake Forest and join the team for the 2013 season.
"I think it's a very similar class to our seniors who just graduated. They have lot of soccer instincts, and there is a lot of passion there," said da Luz. "It's probably one of the most versatile classes that we've had in quite a while. They can all play and are comfortable playing anywhere. I'm looking forward to coaching them."
Robino, Romano and Teegarden all have U.S. Youth National Team experience, and five of the seven signees were rated as four-star recruits by Top Drawer Soccer. The Demon Deacons' class was ranked as the 14th-best nationally by Top Drawer Soccer.
Brock (5-8, Asheville, N.C.) and Romano (5-5, Naperville, Ill.) make up the defenders in this year's class. Kerxton (5-6, Haymarket, Va.) is the Deacons' lone goalkeeper signee.
Three midfielders will join the Deacs in the fall in Fischlein (5-6, Mooresville, N.C.), Robino (5-4, Wilmington, Del.) and Teegarden (5-7, Monrovia, Calif.). Wooten (5-6, Atlanta, Ga.), a forward, will look to bolster the Wake Forest attack.
The seven incoming freshmen will join a Wake Forest squad that returns seven starters from last season, including All-Americans Katie Stengel and Aubrey Bledsoe.

"Taylor is a solid goalkeeper and she is going to compete with Aubrey (Bledsoe). Obviously Aubrey going into her senior year has all the advantages, but Taylor is going to push her. What Taylor has is a tremendous kicking game - on dead balls she can really smack the ball. She's a solid goalkeeper."

"Jenna is a center back usually; she can play outside back as well. She's very composed on the ball and can pass out of the back under pressure. Nothing seems to really rattle her. She can play midfield as well as a defensive midfielder. She's good on set pieces with her head, both defensively and attacking-wise. She plays on a really strong club team, so she has played in a lot of big games. She should find a place on the field somewhere."

A four-star recruit by Top Drawer soccer, ranked as the 54th-best prospect in her class nationally, the 18th-best midfielder, and the sixth-best in her class from the Southern California Region ...
