-Wake Forest opens the 2017 season with a pair of exhibition contests against NC State and William & Mary.
-The Deacs face the Wolfpack in Raleigh on Friday at 7 p.m. and will return home to face the Tribe on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Wake Forest Quick Kicks
-Wake Forest went 3-2-3 in spring soccer earlier this year, gathering wins over South Carolina, East Tennessee State and Appalachian State. The Deacs also forced draws with Tennessee, High Point and NC State.
-The Demon Deacons are returning 19 players from the 2016 roster, including its top three scorers in Maddie Huster, Peyton Perea and Bayley Feist. The trio of Deacs netted 16 of Wake Forest's 28 goals last year.
-The Deacs also welcome seven freshmen to the squad, which includes six seniors, eight juniors and five sophomores.
-Wake Forest will face seven 2016 NCAA Tournament qualifying teams throughout the regular season, as well as four Power 5 opponents in non-conference play.
-Last season, Wake Forest finished with a 10-8 record. Seven of those 10 victories were shutouts while seven of the eight losses came by one goal.
The Opposition and Series History
-The Demon Deacons hold a 16-7-1 all-time series advantage over the NC State Wolfpack. While NC State won the last regular season contest, 2-1, on Sept. 25, 2016 in Raleigh, the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw in spring play. Ally Haran netted a header off a free kick from Maddie Huster to draw the game in the 82nd minute. Lindsay Preston started in goal while Nonie Frishette finished the contest in the second half.
-The Demon Deacons and the Tribe of William & Mary have met just three times in program history. The record stands at 1-1-1, all neutral site games. The two teams finished tied 1-1 in double overtime in the last meeting on Sept. 4, 2015.
-The Demon Deacons open the regular season on the road at Georgia on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. The Deacs will then face Davidson on Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. before returning to Spry in their regular season home opener against South Carolina on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
