TOKYO - Wake Forest junior Katie Stengel and the rest of the United States Under-20 National Team will play for the opportunity to call themselves world champions as they take on Germany Saturday in Tokyo for the 2012 FIFA U-20 World Cup title.

The championship match against the Germans will begin at 6:10 a.m. EDT on Sept. 8 and will be broadcast on ESPNU and ESPN3.

Both the U.S. and Germany came out of Group D, where the Americans finished second and the Germans finished first after defeating the Yanks 3-0 in the final match of the group stage. Stengel appeared in all three group stage games for the U.S. and started and played the entire 90 minutes in the previous match against Germany.

The Americans defeated North Korea and Nigeria in the knockout stage to reach the final match, while the Germans took down Norway and hosts Japan, and are looking to claim their second-straight FIFA U-20 World Cup title.

Stengel, a two-time All-American for Wake Forest, has been away from the team while competing in the World Cup but will rejoin the Demon Deacons as they start ACC play next week.
