Wake Forest sophomore women's soccer phenoms Katie Stengel and Rachel Nuzzolese each scored twice to lead the No. 7 Demon Deacons past Miami 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium.
Deacons Fall to FSU in ACC Championship Game Shootout
Florida State's Tiffany McCarty scored an equalizing goal in the 85th minute and Seminole goalkeeper Kelsey Wys saved three Demon Deacon penalty kicks as Wake Forest lost a shootout 3-1 to Florida State in the 2011 ACC Women's Soccer Championship Match, after the two sides had played to a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
Wake Forest will head to the Sunshine State to open the ACC season, facing Miami on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Coral Gables and No. 1 Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Tallahassee.
The Demon Deacons were picked to finish second in the ACC in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches.

Junior All-American Katie Stengel returns to the Wake Forest lineup after winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan as a member of the U.S. team. Florida State defender Kassey Kallman was a teammate of Stengel's on the U.S. team.
Stengel has been a prolific scorer against teams from her home state of Florida, totalling eight goals and two assists in eight career games against Sunshine State opponents.
