Three Deacs Earn Postseason Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Top Drawer Soccer honored freshmen Vicky Krug and Estelle Laurier and senior Maddie Huster of Wake Forest women’s soccer in its annual postseason awards.

Krug was named to the Top Drawer Soccer (TDS) Freshman Best XI Second Team and the No. 23 Women’s Freshmen Top 100 while Laurier came in at No. 91 in the Freshmen Top 100.

Huster checked in at the No. 57 spot in the Women’s National Top 100, a list that consisted of sophomores, juniors and seniors.

A native of Germany, Krug was an essential member of the Deacon defense that recorded a program record 0.73 goals against average, as well as 11 shutouts this season. She started all 21 games and finished the season with five points on one goal and three assists. Krug was also named to the ACC All-Freshman team earlier this season.

Laurier started in 11 games this season while seeing the field in 19 contests. The native of France led the Demon Deacons with four assists and was fourth in goals with three for a total of 10 points. She recorded her first collegiate goal in style, netting two in the 4-1 win over Michigan while also scoring in the ACC finale against Miami.

Senior captain and Cincinnati, Ohio native Huster started all 21 games for the Deacons this season. She finished 2017 with eight points on four goals and two assists. She was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week and earned TDS National Team of the Week honorable mention earlier this season after recording three points in an upset victory over No. 3 South Carolina. Huster was named to the All-ACC Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team. She was also named the No. 69 player in the TDS Midseason Top 100.

As a team, the Demon Deacons finished the 2017 season ranked No. 19 by Top Drawer Soccer.
