Jesse Medvene-Collins

Jesse Medvene-Collins is in his third season with the Demon Deacon women's program. Before coming to Wake Forest the Maryland native assisted in the development of three players who were ranked in the top 100 nationally, including Alexandra Hirsch who earned a berth in the NCAA Singles Tournament. Medvene-Collins came to Winston-Salem after a two-year stint as the assistant coach at Dartmouth College. "I am very excited that Jesse chose to join me at Wake Forest," head coach Chad Skorupka said. "His enthusiasm and hard work ethic has only made the team more successful at Wake Forest." In his time at Dartmouth, Medvene-Collins helped guide the team to 26-16 overall record and a 5-9 mark in the Ivy League. Ranked as high as No. 63 in 2005, he also helped with the training of Jayme Ahmed, a two-time first team All-Ivy League. Additionally in 2005, the squad was named to the ITA All-Academic team for compiling a cumulative grade point average above 3.2. A 2002 graduate of the University of Redlands (California), Medvene-Collins was a three-time, first team All-Conference selection and participated in four NCAA Division III National Championships. He graduated from Redlands with a degree in sociology and competed on the ATP tour the summer following graduation. He is also a USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) Teaching Professional. Prior to working at Dartmouth, Medvene-Collins was an assistant tennis pro at the McLean (Va.) Swim and Tennis club and at Regency Sport and Health. He also served as the assistant boys' varsity tennis coach at Flint Hill High School in Oakton, Va. |
