WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest swept Radford in doubles and Andrea Retolaza scored a three-set victory at No. 3 singles on the final day of the Wake Forest Winter Classic on Monday afternoon.

For the second straight day, Retolaza and Brigita Bercyte easily dispatched their opponents, Gemma Valls and Hana Babic, at No. 2 doubles. After picking up an 8-1 win on Sunday, they cruised to an 8-3 victory on Monday morning behind a balanced style of play.

Kasey Gardiner and Catherine Roach pulled off a fantastic comeback effort at No. 3 doubles. Trailing 4-1 after the first five games, the duo seized control of the match and dominated the rest of the way, winning seven consecutive games to earn the 8-4 victory over Radford's Taylor Fay and Allison Michaels. The win was Roach's first doubles victory since joining the team as a walk-on in the spring.

Karen Forman and Xue Zhang looked to be easing to a win at No. 1 doubles once they grabbed a 6-3 lead, but Meg Napolitano and Taylor Newman fought back to force a decisive tiebreaker at 7-7. Despite dropping four of five games leading up to the tiebreaker, Forman and Zhang powered through and sealed the match 8-7 (8-6) to clinch the sweep for the Deacs.

In singles, Retolaza starred in a three-set thriller at the No. 3 position. Ranked 125th nationally, the freshman fought back against Elon's Viviana Stavreva despite dropping the first set. She resorted to a more physical style in the final two sets that paid off, resulting in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Forman was involved in her second three-set match in as many days, but ultimately fell 7-5, 3-6, 2-6 against Bryn Khoury. The sophomore fought hard and claimed the first set, but could not maintain that momentum over the remainder of the match.

The Demon Deacons will be back in action next Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. for their first dual match of the spring against Richmond. Live stats will be provided here on WakeForestSports.com throughout the match.
